Car Parks at supermarkets in the UK are on private land, so the control and allocation is down to the supermarket owners and on site management.
Controlling disability La Roche Posay Lipolevres Lip Protector has to be carefully managed to avoiding offending potentially regular high spending customers, and the stores attempts to support and encourage efficient and proper use of disability parking bays.
Each major supermarket chain has Thalgo Absolute Rehydrating Serum own strategy on how they Babor Scentao Body Splash and manage the day to day use of disability parking bays.
There has been considerable abuse of disability parking bays at supermarket car parks, pressure continues to be put on the on site management for better parking control by the disabled customer themselves and local and national disability support groups. The practicality of this varies with each store manager as well as the general policy laid down by the head office of each supermarket group.
Asda for example after some earlier trials, is now rolling out nationally a system to fine customers £60 for parking in disability bays without a blue parking badge.
The chain is the first retailer to fine drivers for the misuse of disabled and parent and child bays in its car parks. All profits generated by the fines will go to baby Astara Green Papaya Nutrient Mask Tommy’s and Motability, the leading car scheme for disabled people.
In a survey four out of five Asda customers said they believed extending the scheme nationwide was the right thing to do following a trial in 2007 in Liverpool.
The trial, which lasted three months operated in six stores and as a result of the scheme the number of free parking spaces increased by more than 60% for disabled drivers and parents with young children.
Paul Hedley, Asda’s customer service manager, said: “Most customers using these bays without good reason don’t realise their actions impact on people Matis Reponse Corrective Wrinkle Correcting Care rely on them to do their weekly shop. We are not handing out tickets to make a profit as money raised will go back to charity. Signs in all stores will clearly state that you will get a fine if you park here unnecessarily. We would encourage anyone that manages a car park to take our lead.”
A spokesman for the chain said that discretion would be used in deciding when to fine and would not be imposed in the case of someone having obvious difficulty walking, for Dermalogica Skin Kit Sensitized even if they did not hold a blue badge or use a child seat in the case of youngsters, the rule of thumb used by Asda for parent and child spaces.
Anyone refusing to pay their fine would be subject to a civil recovery process including civil court if necessary.
None of the other big three supermarkets (Tesco, Sainsbury and Morrisons) seem to have plans to introduce similar schemes.
Ted Garbutt, 68, a blue badge user parking at Asda, Norwich also welcomed the scheme, saying that disabled spaces were at a premium and often taken up by people not needing them. Sarah Tomlinson, a 32-year-old mother of two, added: “I think it’s great, nothing annoys me more than people taking spaces up when they don’t need them at all.”
A spokeswoman for Morrison’s said: “On many sites we employ specialist companies to manage and patrol our car parks. Our store staff are also Belli Pregnancy Acne Clearing Facial Wash at monitoring the car park site.
“If cars are found to be parked inappropriately, verbal warnings are given to the car owner highlighting that they are parked in a reserved place.”
Sainsbury’s said its parking protocol was constantly under review but fines were not on the cards at the moment.
A spokesman for Tesco said the store’s approach, which includes leafleting inappropriately parked Thalgo O2 Marine Oxygen Mask worked “fairly well” in ensuring spaces were not abused.
Naturally the current approach focuses on the concept that if you display a Blue Badge you are “approved” for parking in a disability bay. We know, and more people are realising too, that many badges displayed are in fact bogus or being used improperly - some put the misuse as high as 50%.
EPCD a new independent and voluntary web site sets out to validate Blue Badges and avoid misuse - how can you be Loccitane Verbena Hand Lotion that some (or many) of the Blue Badges on display are not - stolen, expired, borrowed, copies, or just found?
EPCD allows card holding members to register their card and link it to one or more vehicles and drivers to help with validation of suspect illegal disability bay parkers.
